Methods Used in Brick Production in Pakistan
Brick kilns are where those fiery red bricks come from. Brick factories are kilns created by hand that are coated with clay. Bricks are made using thick clay, water, a mould, and heat from a fire (Bhatta). Using coal and other firing materials, raw bricks are heated to high temperatures in racks of Bhatta.
Standard Operating Procedures and wage rates are set by the Brick Kilns Owners’ Association of Pakistan (BKOA). Brick rates in the country are also discussed and decided upon after input from all members.
